Colour variation can often be attributed to different production batches, and is dependent on factors such as the amount of oil used in production and also the cut of leather which is used. Oiled leathers are designed to appear stressed and rustic looking - the leather can look to be dryer or lighter in patches where the oil has dispersed, or darker where the oil has settled. They can appear scuffed and scratched quite easily, but a leather conditioner will help minimise this look.
